Take Me Home Pet Rescue: Wag Wine Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This generous grant allowed Take Me Home Pet Rescue to pay for the vaccination of several rescued cats and dogs from July to September. Our Veterinary Care Program funds are precious, as we need to have the resources to treat fractures, infections, illnesses, and all manner of conditions an abandoned animal may face. Assistance with vaccinations means another pet is protected from illness – and soon, ready to find a forever home.

Adult cats are always a bit harder to place in the perfect home. It is much more common that adopters are seeking a young kitten (or two) to raise, or a companion for an existing cat. Thankfully, with the help of the Petfinder Foundation, we were able to vaccinate and find these four lovely cats forever families!

The 2025 kitten season was a mix of mother cats and kittens rather than only kittens. We never leave a mother cat behind intentionally, but when kittens are found outdoors and Mama is not present, it may occur. This year, I am happy to say we took six mother kitties along with their babies into our foster homes!

Summer (first photo) was one such beautiful mama; she came to us with her six kittens (second photo). She is a gorgeous blue-and-white tuxedo cat with long hair who likes to be the center of attention. Her adopters’ family had recently lost their beloved 16-year-old cat to skin cancer. Ready to give another cat a loving home, they began searching online and found gorgeous Summer, who looked so much like their late cat.

As soon as they met sweet Summer, she captured their hearts, and they adopted her into their family for her happily ever after.

Fendie (third and fourth photos) is a beautiful long-hair calico with a sweet disposition who came to us with four kittens. Her adopter had been seeking a companion who might serve as an emotional support animal. After seeing photographs of this beautiful girl and reading her sweet story, she could not wait to meet Fendie.

They are now living happily together, and Fendie is treated like the queen of her castle with a private space in the living room where she can “get away from it all” if necessary. Her adopter sends updated photos and lets us know just how they are doing. She could not be happier with her new companion, and Fendie seems to love her new home!

Luigi and Mario (photos 5-7) came into our rescue as young brothers (3 months old) who became tightly bonded with one another in their foster home. It became evident early on that these two boys needed a forever home together. Months went by where there were applications, but no one was willing to take the pair of brothers together.

Meanwhile, their adopter searched online to find a pair of siblings who would be content together while he was off at work, but would still enjoy hanging out with him in the evenings and on the weekends. The boys were adopted together and are happily living their best life!
