Houston Cares Animal Rescue: Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
This grant made it possible for the perfect forever family to adopt senior, special-needs dog Biscuit. Biscuit is an 11.5-year-old miniature pinscher who is great with dogs and kids and still full of energy. Unfortunately, he has elevated liver enzymes, urinary disease (bladder stones), dental disease, cataracts, and only one lung, which means he needs more frequent senior veterinary visits and diagnostic tests, as well as special food and medications.
Biscuit loved his foster home and had grown attached to his foster family and their other animals, but his foster family was hesitant to officially adopt him because of concerns about his senior medical costs.
Within a week of announcing Biscuit's senior pet adoption grant, his foster family adopted him! Not only did this grant secure the forever home for a beloved senior animal, it freed up critical funds for Houston Cares Animal Rescue to enroll new foster animals! Thank you, Petfinder Foundation!
