How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The KONG toys have significantly enhanced the daily lives of our kennel dogs by providing them with much-needed enrichment and mental stimulation. On the day we introduced the toys, it was pure joy to see the excitement in the dogs as they eagerly engaged with the volunteers. These toys have become a staple in our daily enrichment routines, helping to reduce stress, alleviate boredom, and provide a healthy outlet for energy. The dogs particularly love when the KONGs are stuffed with treats, turning playtime into a fun and rewarding experience. This grant has not only brightened the lives of the dogs in our care but also allowed us to provide a higher level of mental and emotional well-being, improving their chances of finding forever homes.

Students from Fusion Academy, who joined us to celebrate this achievement, helped make the day extra special for 60 kenneled dogs. They filled KONGs with peanut butter and spent quality time socializing and playing with them. It was truly heartwarming to see the joy this brought to every dog, especially those who are still learning to trust human kindness.

One dog in particular, Jack Darrel (first photo), is extremely timid and wary of humans. We all watched in amazement as he engaged with the student volunteers through the introduction of a KONG toy (photos 2-4). This was a huge milestone for Jack and we have continued to use the KONGs as a way to build confidence.
