The grant helped our organization with much-needed funds to cover an expensive, but life-changing, surgery for Seymour the Saint, a cat in our care.

Seymour the Saint wants to announce to his subjects that he has found a new family and he loves his new humans and new fur-brother dog and sister cat!

Seymour came into the Waco Regional Shelter a hot mess. Let us count the ways: Completely emaciated. Filthy. Infected eyes. Irreparably broken leg. FIV-positive.

With your help, Waco Pets Alive! chooses to save the most urgent and vulnerable animals at the Waco shelter, and Seymour fit that criteria.

He had his broken leg amputated and recovered in his new home. You see, we know adopters are capable of providing aftercare for their new pet.

Typically, black cats do not get adopted as quickly as other cats. Add to that: older, broken leg and FIV+. We are thankful for our City of Waco Animal Services folks and HSCT friends for being proactive in modern life-saving. (And, yes, glad you asked! FIV+ cats can live happy lives in homes with FIV- cats.)
