RSQ: Emergency Medical Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

RSQ is an all volunteer non-profit located in Southern Utah. Our mission is to be a voice for the voiceless, bettering the lives of the forgotten, abandoned, and abused animals in rural Utah, while inspiring the community to get involved. This $1,000 Emergency Medical Grant helped to cover almost all of Beau's medical costs, which then allows us to keep continuing help other animals.

Beau came to us with a severe eye injury, which had been left untreated for two weeks after he was attacked by a dog. His wounds were very infected and he had several procedures done to try and save his eye, but eventually, he needed surgery to have the eye removed. During the surgery, the vet found part of the attacking dog’s tooth embedded in one of the wounds.

Happily, Beau fully healed under the loving care of an RSQ volunteer’s medical foster care. When this volunteer had to go out of town, another volunteer stepped in to dog sit, immediately fell in love with Beau, and adopted him.

Despite the trauma Beau endured, he remained a loving dog. He is now living his best life in his new fur-ever home, and is living happily with other dogs, too. Thanks to the Petfinder Foundation’s grant programs, RSQ is able to help animals in their times of need. Beau’s injury photos are too graphic to post, but we just love his post-healing photos.
