Pets Bring Joy: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We are grateful to have received a 2024 Petfinder Kia Pet Adoption Grant in the amount of $2,500, which has supported fee-reduced adoptions for many of our animals this year.

Our regular adoption fee for individual cats is set at $175, which is already far below the amount we spend on an average cat to prepare them for adoption. With the Petfinder Foundation and Kia's generous grant, we were able to reduce our adoption fee to $80 for many of our senior and/or special-needs animals, encouraging their adoption into loving, permanent homes.

Thanks to this grant, we have already enabled 17 fee-reduced adoptions this year. We will be able to fund an additional nine before the end of the calendar year with the remaining funds from the Petfinder Foundation Kia Grant. Thanks to this, we are able to free up valuable space in our foster homes in order to bring in new cats in this unprecedented time of need.

Meet Sadie Sun, the senior cat who found her happily-ever-after through Pets Bring Joy!

Despite a rough start in life, this 13-year-old beauty was rescued from neglect and given a second chance at love and care.

After being brought to Pets Bring Joy from a crowded Maryland shelter in September 2023, Sadie received vital medical treatment for her skin disorder and hyperthyroidism, paving the way for her to find a forever home filled with warmth and affection.

Thanks to adoption-fee assistance from the Petfinder Foundation Kia grant, Sadie Sun was adopted and now basks in the love and attention she truly deserves, proving that every cat, no matter their age, deserves a purr-fect ending!
