We were awarded the Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant from the Petfinder Foundation in the Fall of 2024. This grant helped us with follow-up and preventative care to help our foster cat Coco get adopted.

Coco, an 8-year-old neutered male, was diagnosed with reoccurring urinary blockages and therefore required surgery. After his surgery, we used the money from the grant to pay for his follow-up visits and for his prescription-grade food while he was in our foster care.

After Coco had his successful perineal urethrostomy, he required prescription-grade food to maintain his urinary health. We were able to use the $500 from the Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant to pay for Coco’s dry food so that he could continue to be fostered, and it also went towards follow-up appointments with the veterinarian following his surgery.

Coco was adopted after several months in foster care. His adoptive mom says, “He has definitely chosen me as his person. He follows me around everywhere and is always seeking out cuddles/attention. He seems very content.”
