Daisy's Legacy: Dog Enrichment Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The purpose of this grant was to improve the mental and physical well-being of shelter dogs by providing enrichment tools that reduce kennel stress, encourage positive behaviors, and increase adoptability. These tools create a more stimulating, supportive environment for dogs as they wait for their forever homes.

The grant funds have been allocated toward high-impact enrichment supplies, including:

Toys (chew toys, tug ropes, fetch balls): $150
Puzzle feeders & nose work games: $100
Agility equipment & tunnels (starter set): $125
Comfortable dog beds: $75
Durable bowls & storage containers: $50

The enrichment tools funded by this grant have already been put to use. One of our shelter dogs, Murphy, attended a public adoption event equipped with an “Adopt Me” vest and travel supplies funded in part through this grant. These tools helped reduce his stress, increase his visibility, and boost his engagement with potential adopters.

As more dogs rotate through our care, the enrichment items will continue to provide stimulation, comfort, and structure to improve their mental health and readiness for adoption.

Thanks to your support, we’ve taken an important step toward creating a more humane and enriching shelter experience for our dogs. While our project is ongoing, the initial impact is clear: our dogs are happier, more engaged, and better prepared to meet their future families.

We sincerely thank you for making this possible.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

When Dora first came into our care, she was a quiet, timid girl who struggled to cope with the stress of the shelter environment. She often stayed curled up in the corner of her kennel, hesitant to interact and easily overlooked by visitors.

Thanks to the support from the Dog Enrichment Grant, Dora had access to puzzle feeders, interactive toys, and a soft, calming bed — resources that gave her comfort and stimulation. These simple but powerful tools helped Dora come out of her shell. She began engaging with her surroundings, showing more confidence, and connecting with people.

That transformation made all the difference. One of her photos captured the heart of a loving family, and soon after, Dora was adopted. Today, she enjoys a home filled with love, furry friends, and children she adores.

Dora’s story is a clear example of how enrichment improves a shelter dog’s quality of life — and helps them find their way home.
