Love of Labs Indiana: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
A few rescue dogs have anxiety or get easily overwhelmed in situations. We needed to provide training (funded by Love of Labs) for the dogs and the new families on how to help these dogs not be in stressful circumstances, and how to manage when those events do occur. We have two of our four intended dogs already adopted thanks to this effort.

Haiden had been adopted twice from Love of Labs and returned. In both cases, the families had not worked with a trainer to help Haiden (or their children) know what to do when he got overwhelmed. He was getting too excited with kids chasing him and did not know how to play well with them.
Now we’ve been able to work with Haiden with a trainer in foster care and offer transitional training sessions to the new family to help them learn Haiden’s signs of being overwhelmed, and know how to redirect him to his quiet place to calm down and refocus.
