Blue Mountain Humane Society: Play Yard Renovation Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
Thanks to the generous grant provided to the Blue Mountain Humane Society, we were able to add fence extensions to our facility, greatly benefiting the dogs in our care. This enhancement allowed us to provide outdoor playtime to all of our dogs, ensuring that none were left out of this important enrichment activity.
The fence extensions created secure and spacious outdoor play areas, promoting exercise, socialization, and the joy of being outdoors for our dogs. Previously, safety concerns limited our ability to offer outdoor playtime to all dogs, but with the new fence extensions, we overcame these limitations.
The impact of this change was significant. It improved the physical and mental well-being of our dogs, making them more adoptable and improving their overall quality of life during their stay with us. Additionally, the fence extensions increased the visibility of the dogs waiting for forever homes in the Walla Walla Valley, resulting in more successful adoptions.
We are immensely grateful for the grant, as it has made a lasting difference in the lives of the dogs we care for. Thank you for supporting our mission to provide a better future for these deserving animals.

We’re thrilled to share the wonderful news that Deku, our beloved furry friend, has embarked on a home trial after spending nearly 300 days at Blue Mountain Humane Society! TracyLynn has graciously opened her heart and home to Deku, expressing confidence that this trial will soon blossom into a permanent adoption. Her family has a soft spot for cases like Deku’s, and he’s found his forever home.
A special thanks to all our volunteers and staff, including our animal care and medical teams, for their incredible dedication and care throughout Deku’s stay. From multiple daily walks to providing nourishing meals and essential medical attention, their collective efforts have made a significant impact. Thank you for being the unsung heroes behind the scenes, ensuring the well-being of animals like Deku.
And a special shout out to the Petfinder Foundation for the play yard renovation grant that allowed us to extend our play yard fences by another two feet, creating a safer environment for our energetic dogs like Deku. Long-stay dogs, in particular, need safe spaces to exercise and play, and the fence upgrade, courtesy of the Petfinder Foundation, means no dog gets left behind when it’s time to play outdoors!
