How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

With the grant funding, we were able to purchase a variety of climbing shelves and an outdoor climbing post for our catio. We also purchased a variety of cat condos and cat houses for the indoor cat towns. For the kennels, we purchased shelter dens to allow the cats a safe space to hide.

By providing enrichment opportunities, we are able to mentally and physically stimulate the cats. Enrichment opportunities can decrease stress, anxiety, boredom, and unwanted behaviors. Having hiding and climbing options lets the cats choose where they are most comfortable.

Murphy, the kitten in the photo, loved his shelter den. He would spend a lot of time in there relaxing. Having a place to retreat made him feel safe. Murphy has been adopted.
