The Petfinder Foundation's Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant provided critical support to Colorado Animal Rescue's senior diabetic cat Jimmy, specifically by helping cover the cost of expensive medication that can often be a barrier to adoption. Older pets like Jimmy sometimes require long-term medical treatment that makes them less appealing to potential adopters. Thanks to funding from this grant, we were able to remove that barrier by covering the cost of Jimmy's Senvelgo and supplies post-adoption. This not only eased the financial burden on our organization but also ensured that Jimmy would continue to receive the care he needed.

Jimmy came to us with diabetes requiring daily medication and a specialized diet. While Jimmy was sweet and affectionate, his medical needs made adoption more challenging.
After receiving funds from the Petfinder Foundation’s Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant, we were able to publicly share that Jimmy’s medication, Senvelgo, would be covered, making adoption more accessible and less intimidating for potential adopters.
Just a few weeks later, Jimmy found his perfect match. We’re thrilled to report that Jimmy is doing well in his new home, and this outcome wouldn’t have been possible without this generous support.
