Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin: Other Animals Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
With this grant funding, we were able to purchase small-critter cages, small-critter carriers, enrichment toys, multivitamins, Vitamin C supplements, treats, and bedding.
Over the last year, we have seen an increase in small-critter intakes, and we needed more cages to house them all. The carriers have allowed us to safely transport small critters to foster homes when needed. The enrichment toys have kept the critters busy while awaiting their new homes. The vitamins and supplements have kept them healthy.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Our staff has noticed positive behavior changes in several of our longer-staying small-critter residents.
Rosco, a hamster, has been coming out of his hut to visit with the staff more knowing that he will be receiving a treat from them. He has also been enjoying his new toys.
Harmony and Lyric are two of our guinea pigs. Lyric has been very social with staff; however, Harmony has been reserved. With the new treats and enrichment toys available, she has been coming out of hiding to interact with staff, play with the toys, and receive her treats.
