Misfit Felines, Inc.: Cat Enrichment Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Misfit Felines is a foster-based rescue. Our foster families are always asking for more enrichment toys for the cats and kittens. When we received the very generous Petfinder Foundation grant, we discussed many different options. All the fosters agreed that the kittens should have toys to play with in their foster home as well as toys to take with them to their forever homes. They wanted enough for everyone. The story below explains how we decided upon the Catnip Kickers.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Precious is a beautiful long-haired kitten. She came to us severely emaciated (first photo). She was literally skin and bones. She could not stand. For the first week, she laid on her side and was fed with a tiny baby spoon.

Her chance at life did not look good, but Precious beat the odds. She gradually gained weight. She was able to stand, then walk, and finally run and play. Her favorite toy became a Catnip Kicker. This was our inspiration (in part) to purchase 100 of them.

Every adopted kitten with have a Catnip Kicker to play with and to take to their forever home. Before and after photos are posted below.
