Eden Animal Haven: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We received a $1,000 Kia Pet Adoption Grant, which we used to reduce cat adoption fees during what is typically a slow period for adoptions (October-November). We offered $50 off adoption fees for cats during:

PetSmart in-store adoption event 10/7 (3 cats, Clouseau, Biddy, and Booboo): total $150

PetSmart adoption center 10/23-11/5 (8 cats, Cecil, Poirot, Millhone, Barnes, Marple, Marty, Walter, Whitney): total $400

PetSmart National Adoption Week event on November 6-12, in-store and at shelter (8 cats at PetSmart: Larry, Arana, Babette, Binky, Midnight, Kiki, Louise, Thelma; 10 cats at the shelter: Winona, Marmalade, Divinity, sunshine, May, Gremlin, Goblin, Glinda, BlackJack, Natsu).

The total amount of discounts offered was therefore 29 cats x $50 each= $1450, of which this grant covered $1000 and we covered $450 from our own funds.

Thelma and Louise arrived at our shelter in a garbage truck after the driver found them struggling in the back in filthy water, where someone apparently tossed them. He drove straight to our shelter and we cleaned them up and checked them out.

After we held a naming contest, they became known as Thelma and Louise because they were tough females who took a very wild ride.

They were adopted together during our PetSmart in-store adoption event on Nov. 11, 2023. The final photo shows them in their forever home.
