Humane Society of Marion County: Disaster Response and Recovery Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
Our bench for volunteers to sit on was destroyed. We had a lot of trees down after the tornado that ripped through our area. There was a lot of clean up and damage at our shelter. We were so grateful to receive this grant for a bench for our volunteers walking dogs on the trails.
We are excited about this bench. It is sturdy and comfortable. It is even made of 100% UV-protected plastic that won’t rot, splinter, or crack. Volunteers and people coming to the shelter to adopt can sit on this bench while visiting with the dogs. The bench has a prominent place at our shelter and we are very proud and thankful for it. This will help countless dogs due to the fact it should last a very very long time.

This new bench helps all the dogs at our shelter. It is in a prominent location at our shelter now and one of the first things you see when you pull up. Anyone walking the dogs, either on the trails or even just for a short walk in the front of the shelter, can sit on this bench and visit the dogs. It is also nice to be able to brush the dogs while sitting on the bench.
The first photo shows Gerald, a.k.a Jerry, visiting with Ms. Linda (wearing the hat). He is enjoying the time getting petting and loved on. You can meet him here.
