Stray Cat Blues, Inc.: Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Through this grant, SCB was able to incentivize the adoption of one of our long-term seniors in foster care. Harry, a senior with hyperthyroidism, had had no adoption interest until we offered the adoption incentive. With the incentive, Harry was adopted within a week!

This grant is extremely helpful to help promote the adoption of cats who are harder to place due to their age and lifelong medical conditions that can be costly to the adopter. Thank you, Petfinder Foundation, for the grant!

Through this grant, Stray Cat Blues, Inc., was able to incentivize Harry’s adoption, which resulted in Harry finding his forever family in mere days after posting his adoption incentive. He is now adopted!

Harry’s story is one of resilience and charm. Found trying to enter a home where he wasn’t welcome, this sweet boy was rescued by Stray Cat Blues. A microchip revealed that he’s now 12 years old, but sadly, his previous person had rehomed him, and Harry was dumped outside and left to fend for himself.

Despite it all, Harry remained the epitome of a gentleman: gentle, friendly, and content. His striking good looks and affectionate nature made him impossible to resist. He has hyperthyroidism and needs just two tiny pills a day, but otherwise, he was a healthy, happy boy.

Due to his age and long-term care needs for his hyperthyroidism, Harry had struck out on finding his forever family. He had been in foster care for over 60 days with no interest, despite his charming personality and adorable looks! Through this grant, Harry’s yearly exam, bi-annual thyroid bloodwork, and a year’s worth of thyroid medication were all covered for the adopter to incentivize Harry’s adoption. Harry is now settled in at his forever home!
