Daisy’s Legacy: Dog Field Trip/Short-Term Fostering Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The 2025 Dog Field Trips Grant from the Petfinder Foundation significantly advanced our mission by enabling high-potential adoptable dogs to participate in off-site events and outings that would otherwise be inaccessible due to logistical or financial constraints. The funding allowed us to purchase travel supplies and safety gear (including “Adopt Me” vests) and to cover transportation costs.
This grant gave our dogs essential opportunities for enrichment and visibility outside of boarding, directly supporting their socialization, mental health, and adoptability. Each trip offered a chance for the dogs to engage with the public, meet potential adopters, and break free — temporarily — from the stress of the kennel environment.
How many pets did this grant help?
This grant will help approximately 10–15 dogs throughout 2025 by providing field-trip opportunities and increased exposure at adoption events.
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
One standout success story is Murphy, a gentle and affectionate dog who had been in boarding for an extended period with limited opportunities to engage with potential adopters. Thanks to the generous support of the Dog Field Trips Grant, Daisy’s Legacy was able to transport Murphy over two hours to a major adoption event in Washington, DC — an opportunity that would have otherwise been out of reach.
Outfitted in his brand-new “Adopt Me” vest and equipped with travel supplies funded by the grant, Murphy spent a full day outside the kennel environment. He eagerly met event visitors, soaked up attention, and won hearts with his sweet and playful personality. For the first time in a long while, Murphy had the chance to truly shine in a relaxed, supportive setting.
Although Murphy has not yet been adopted, the event was a turning point. He gained much-needed exposure, built confidence, and now has a refreshed profile that’s helping him get noticed. We’re optimistic that his forever home is just around the corner.
