How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We are inundated with calls for cats and kittens, our worst season ever. So much so that we have had to turn people away because the adoption rate is not what we would hope. We are told by the public that our fees are too high, but they don't understand that this is to cover the costs of spay or neuter, microchip, testing for diseases, treatment and medicine for conditions, and all the vaccines. The grant has allowed us to cut the cost of adoption for some animals and given us the ability to move more animals into that space. This has been such a blessing for our shelter and the cats we help.

1,254 days … that’s the amount of time Maple was in our rescue. We are so happy to say that, thanks to the impact of the Kia Pet Adoption Grant, Maple finally found his forever family.

Three and a half years ago, Maple was found stuck in a tree. Once they got him down, they found that this guy was a bit shy and reserved. He grew to trust his fosters but still held some of that nervous energy, which made finding him a home challenging. Some lovely people saw potential in Maple (first photo), and he’s now in a home that is right where he belongs. Thank you to the Kia Pet Adoption Grant, which allowed us to lower Maple’s adoption fee and give him a chance to be adopted.

The other pictures are cats who had been with our rescue for a long time. All are wonderful and loving but were often overlooked. By reducing the adoption fee, we were able to find loving forever homes for them and free up space to take in more animals that needed us. We are a shelter that is vastly underfunded and this has helped so much.
