Pawsitive Match Rescue Foundation: Purina Canada Happy Paws & Hearts Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

There were 24 adoptions in December! Thanks to the generous support of Purina’s Happy Paws & Hearts Operation Grant, we were able to provide the animals in our care with the help they truly needed and deserved. Funding supported essential veterinary care, supplies, and behavioral training, making a life-changing difference for many long-term residents.

The $4,000 grant helped us cover urgent needs over a three-month period. Approximately $2,500 supported essential veterinary care, including vaccinations, spay and neuter procedures, and medical treatments. An additional $800 was used for critical supplies such as specialized and allergy-friendly food, bedding, crates, leashes, and enrichment items to support daily care and comfort. The remaining $700 funded behavioral support, including training, decompression walks, and access to private off-leash parks for dogs requiring low-stress environments.

Purina’s support allowed us to continue caring for vulnerable pets with complex needs and to give them the second chances they truly deserve.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

One of our most heartwarming success stories is Sawyer (first photo), an adorable dog who received the medical care and behavioral support he needed and was finally adopted after 704 days in care. Another fun-loving pup, Dex (second photo), also found his forever home after 261 days in care.

We also celebrated several feline success stories. Danny, the purr-fect cat, received all his vaccinations, neuter surgery, and necessary medical treatments through the grant and was adopted after 304 days in our care. Alexis, who required additional behavioral support, was also successfully adopted after 242 days.

These outcomes would not have been possible without Purina’s support, which allowed our volunteer-run organization to meet the complex needs of animals waiting for their forever homes.
