We got a call about a husky mix in a very high[-intake] shelter. At the time, we were very full, but in order to keep him from being euthanized, we said we would take him in.

Upon intake, he was examined by our veterinarian. He was very lethargic, dehydrated, had a very low temperature and his overall body condition was poor.

We named him Rye and our vet administered fluids and started him on a course of antibiotics while we awaited the results of his fecal test. The fecal test showed an extremely high burden of coccidia and giardia. With treatment for both of the parasites, he improved very quickly.

During his play time outside, he would often lie on one of the beds to play with toys. This kept him warm and provided padding for his thin body. When it came time to take his adoption photos, some of the best photos were of him lying on the bed that he used while recovering. He was adopted in mid-March of 2025 and is a happy and thriving boy with his new family.
