How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
Thanks to the generous support of the Kia Pet Adoption Grant, the Holbrook Animal Shelter has made a tremendous impact in our community. With adoption fees waived, we saw a significant increase in adoptions, allowing more dogs and cats to find loving, permanent homes. This grant not only helped remove financial barriers for families but also reduced overcrowding in our shelter, creating a healthier and less-stressful environment for the animals in our care. As a result, we've been able to rescue more vulnerable animals from high-risk situations and continue our mission of compassion and care. We are deeply grateful to Kia for helping us change so many lives — for both pets and people — in our community.

One of the most touching success stories made possible by the Kia Pet Adoption Grant is that of Kara, our longest resident at the Holbrook Animal Shelter.
Kara, a gentle and affectionate mixed-breed dog, spent more than140 days in our care waiting patiently for someone to see the love she had to give.
Despite her sweet nature, Kara was often overlooked simply because of her age and quiet demeanor. As the weeks turned into months, our staff grew increasingly concerned that she might never find a home.
But thanks to the funding from the Kia grant, we were able to host a free adoption event that finally gave Kara the visibility she deserved. With adoption fees waived, more families came through our doors — people who might not have considered adopting otherwise.
After months of waiting, Kara finally went home. Today, she’s thriving — enjoying daily walks, snuggling on the couch, and soaking up the love she had waited so long to find.
Her story is a powerful reminder of the impact this grant has had, not only on our shelter operations but on the lives of animals who simply needed a chance. Thanks to the Kia Pet Adoption Grant, Kara’s wait ended with a forever home, and we were able to continue our mission of giving every animal a second chance at life.
