Fauwks was an owner-surrender who was red-listed at a high[-intake] shelter and rescued by us in early 2023. He was adopted two months later and then 18 months after that picked up by Animal Control in horrible condition (first photo).

We immediately took him to the vet, where it was determined that he was dehydrated and in severe pain; had a huge cut on his ear, matted fur, and elevated kidney levels; and hadn’t been to the vet since he was adopted 18 months earlier!

This grant helped Fauwks finally find his forever home after being with us for over a year his second time around.

His story touched many hearts when it was shared on social media and featured on TV. The family who adopted him said they were deeply moved by his journey and knew he was meant to be part of their family.

Seeing his transformation and knowing how far he’s come reminded us just how powerful community awareness and storytelling can be in helping long-term dogs find the loving homes they deserve.
