This grant has helped our rescue have a catio - a safe, enclosed outdoor space for cats to safely enjoy the outdoors. This is very helpful for us because we take in a lot of cats that were previously living on the streets/outdoors and this is helping them transition to a life inside very nicely!

This is the heartwarming story of how we took in Boots the senior. Boots is a sweet 17-year-old kitty with severe renal failure and other health issues. We saw him posted online as an at-risk cat who needed saving and knew we had to do something. We couldn’t bear the thought of him being euthanized at the overcrowded shelter, so we made the decision to rescue him. Despite his stage 4 renal failure, we knew he deserved a chance at a loving home and a peaceful life.
When we brought Boots into our rescue, we were determined to provide him with the care and comfort he needed. It hasn’t always been easy, but seeing him thrive and enjoy his days in the catio makes it all worth it. He has brought so much love and joy to our lives, and we’re grateful to have the opportunity to give him the love and care he deserves during his final days.
Boots has become quite the catio enthusiast. He spends hours basking in the warm sunlight, feeling the gentle breeze, and taking in the sights and sounds of nature. It’s truly heartwarming to see him enjoying his last days in such a peaceful and safe environment. The catio has made a world of difference for him, allowing him to experience the outdoors while still being protected and cared for.
We’re so grateful for the grant that made the catio possible. It has brought so much happiness to Boots and enriched his life in ways we couldn’t have imagined. Every day with him is a precious gift, and we’re determined to make his remaining time as comfortable and joyful as possible.
