Almost Home Canine Rescue: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
We were able to discount the adoption fees for six dogs and four cats with the funding provided by the Kia Pet Adoption Grant! At a time when adoptions were at an all-time low, this grant was able to effectively help move animals into their forever homes.
The following cats had their adoption fees reduced by $25 each: Winx, Ghost, Vega, and Cloudy.
Dogs who had their adoption fees reduced include Cato ($200 reduction), Karsyn ($50 reduction), Clyde ($50 reduction), Dutch ($50 reduction), Lambeau ($50 reduction ), and Raven ($100 reduction).

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Winx (first photo) was a young kitten around 4 months old when he came to rescue with an eye injury. Unfortunately, the injury was too severe for vets to save his eye, so the eye was removed. After Winx recovered, he was put up for adoption and found the best forever home! He is thriving and enjoying every minute. Having one eye has not slowed him down at all. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to discount his adoption fee to find him the best home.
Clyde (second photo) is settling in very well. Right away, his cat sisters showed him who was boss in the house. He respects the older two cats, but with the youngest one — well, it’s a game of who chases who! The cat reaches out and grabs Clyde’s leg and the chase is on! In about two minutes, they come back through the house with the cat chasing the dog. They even play with balls together and when they are tired, they lie on the couch together for a nap.
Lambeau, now Luka (third photo), is living the good life with his brother and two sisters. He weighs around 50 lbs. but holds his own against the others, who are around 80 or more pounds. He and the girls love chasing each other throughout the house and yard. Lots of wrestling and fun is had by all. He also enjoys lying on the couch after all the excitement. He’s a great dog and listens well.
