Front Range Freedom Rescue: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
This grant helped us tremendously. By reducing the price of senior-cat adoptions during kitten season, we helped people understood how valuable these senior cats really are. Adopters were inspired to help the senior cats and save a little money. With your support, we were able to get 20 beautiful senior felines to wonderful new homes in a few short months. Thank you!

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Harmony was a petite, tame black cat, about 6 years old, who had lived outside in a feral colony. Her caretaker died and a neighbor called us to help the burgeoning outdoor cat colony. Harmony was trapped as part of the colony, but we could tell she was friendly right off.
She went into foster care with our organization and was sweet and friendly. We made sure she was medically and emotionally ready for adoption, which took about a month. Her foster family enjoyed watching her blossom while learning to be an indoor cat.
We advertised her on our website and she spent several weeks at two different pet stores for five months, but she never found a family of her own. She never really got a second look during kitten season.
We were doing an adoption event at a local brewery and a woman came by looking for a kitten. We told the woman about the reduced price adoptions for senior pets due to the Petfinder Foundation Kia grant that we had just been awarded and explained all the benefits of adopting a mature cat. She gave our adult cats a second look, spent some time with Harmony and decided that it would be great to have a mature cat instead of a kitten.
We know that the 2025 Kia Pet Adoption Grant made THE difference in Harmony’s second chance at life.
