How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

With the 2025 Kia Pet Adoption Grant, we were able to reduce the adoption fees for approximately 10 cats in foster care and at the shelter, including those with FIV-positive and senior status. Lowering these fees helped remove financial barriers, allowing cats — especially those often overlooked — to find homes more quickly. This reduced shelter stays and enabled us to help more animals overall without lowering adoption standards.

Mama Kendra came to us at 10 years old after having recently given birth to a litter of kittens. While she lovingly cared for her babies, she faced challenges of her own — she was an older cat, was FIV-positive, and had an eosinophilic granuloma complex, all factors that often make adoption more difficult.

By reducing her adoption fee through the 2025 Kia Pet Adoption Grant, we were able to remove financial barriers and help potential adopters see Mama Kendra for who she truly was: a deserving, loving companion. That support helped her find and settle into her forever home. For that, we are truly grateful.
