Ziggy's Haven Bird Sanctuary, Inc.: Emergency Medical Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The grant we received provided full coverage for the initial expense we incurred on the intake of this particular bird. We do not ever refuse a parrot surrender due to medical need. It is never the animal's fault that they may not come with a big checkbook. This $500 grant allows us to continue to put the birds first by replenishing our emergency vet care funds.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Stu, a sulfur-crested cockatoo, came to us from an abandonment situation. Due to poor diet and living conditions, he has a deformed beak and poor body condition. He is blind in one eye and partially sighted in the other.
The vet staff corrected some of Stu’s beak overgrowth on his initial visit. With continued care, Stu has a good prognosis for living a good life with minor modifications to his diet and environment. He is still at the rescue while his medical foster home prepares for his arrival.
