Poodle and Pooch Rescue of Florida: Emergency Medical Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Sydney, an 8-week-old poodle-mix puppy, came into our care after suffering a devastating eye injury that required immediate emergency intervention. After being found abandoned and taken in by a good Samaritan, Sydney was attacked by another dog in the home, leaving her with a severe injury that threatened both her comfort and her future.

When the local shelter called us, one of our volunteers immediately transported Sydney to our vet partner, where she was stabilized and underwent emergency enucleation surgery to remove the damaged eye and relieve her pain.

The Petfinder Foundation Emergency Medical Grant helped offset the substantial costs associated with Sydney's care, including diagnostics, surgery, hospitalization, medications, and follow-up treatment. This support allowed us to focus on providing the lifesaving care Sydney needed without diverting critical resources from other dogs in our rescue program.

Most importantly, the grant gave Sydney the opportunity to heal, recover, and move forward toward a happy, healthy life and a loving forever home.

Sydney, an 8-week-old poodle-mix puppy, came into our care after suffering a severe eye injury when she was attacked by another dog after being rescued by a good Samaritan. Her injury was so severe that she required emergency enucleation surgery to remove her eye and relieve her pain.

Thanks to the Petfinder Foundation Emergency Medical Grant, Sydney received the urgent care she needed and recovered beautifully in foster care. Despite everything she endured, she remained a happy, playful, and spirited puppy who quickly won everyone’s hearts.

We’re thrilled to share that Sydney was adopted by a wonderful family with a toy-poodle brother and a fenced yard to play in. She is now living the happy, loving life every puppy deserves.
