Hawaii Island Humane Society: Dog Field Trip/Short-Term Fostering Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
At Hawaii Island Humane Society, we have a robust Field Trips for Shelter Dogs program. Our program is a favorite among visitors, residents, staff, volunteers, and, of course, the dogs!
The program allows our dogs to get out of the shelter for a day of fun, exercise, enrichment, and exposure. We supply participants with a backpack filled with all dog-related necessities and a seat belt for safe car rides. Our dogs are outfitted in a harness, collar, leash, and Adopt Me bandana.
This grant allowed us to purchase much-needed supplies for our program so that we could replace supplies that were lost, broken, or worn.
How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Countless dogs benefit from our Field Trips for Shelter Dogs program. The grant helped us keep our supplies in good condition for the safety of the pets and participants.
Many dogs are adopted as a result of their field trip. One pup, Clover, has a pending adoption as a result of going out on a field trip with a loving couple who then applied to adopt her! The photo shows Clover out on a very special “field trip” – she joined us for our annual gala!
