Nessie was on her last day at Devore in California when we happened to be there to pick up some others and there was no way we were leaving her behind. Covered in scars and kennel sores, she had little pep in her step. Her eyes were filled with sadness.
Once back in Idaho, we learned that she needed surgery to remove not one, not two, but a chain of six mammary tumors. She was cut open from top to bottom. It was a tough surgery for her.
Nessie had no adoption interest. While she was still recovering, in another state a prior adopter was recovering from losing her boxer. She saw Nessie and drove to Idaho to meet her. She immediately said yes I want to adopt her but I think she needs a friend — I’ll adopt one of the boys too.
We’ve received a couple of updates and Nessie loves playing with her new brother — she has become much more active. She is loved and spoiled, as she should be.
