Second Chance Animal Services, Inc.: Dog Field Trip/Short-Term Fostering Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Funds from this grant are very helpful in getting exposure for our pets outside of the adoption center.

Dog field trips are a very exciting occurrence in the adoption center. Grant funds were used to support our Dog Field Trip program, which gives shelter dogs the chance to leave the kennel for short outings with trained staff and volunteers. These trips include fun like a walk in the park, a car ride, or a visit to a pet-friendly store. For dogs who may be stressed, anxious, or overlooked in the adoption center, this program offers a valuable change of scenery and a chance to relax, explore, and show their true personalities.

Volunteers take our dogs out into public for a fun field trip while dogs wear "Adopt Me" bandanas. The exposure is not only great fun for the dogs but also helps them to reach potential adopters while spreading the word about our adoption center and the work we do to find pets loving homes.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Elsie is the sweetest, goofiest girl you’ll ever meet! Always full of joy and wagging tails, Elsie loves to greet you at the door with her favorite toy in tow, ready to play and make you smile. She’s playful, affectionate, and never misses a chance to share her happiness (and a few big, slobbery kisses!). Whether she’s chasing after her squeaky ball or snuggling up for some love, Elsie’s warm heart and silly personality make every day brighter.

Elsie went on a field trip with an awesome volunteer yesterday to a local store with a great pet department. She had a blast picking a toy and then walking all over squeaking it; she came back so happy. While she hasn’t been adopted yet, she can be seen here on Petfinder.
