Little Beans Orphan Ark Rescue: Dog Enrichment Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Little Beans Orphan Ark Rescue was beyond grateful to have been chosen for the 2024 Dog Enrichment Grant. The awarded amount from the grant was used to purchase a Swift Paws Lure System.

While we are often donated plush toys, rubber chews, and treats, interactive toys such as the Lure system is a totally new exploration for the rescues. This fast-paced moving exercise toy caught the attention of the rescue dogs and kept that interest for an extended period of time. Even the dogs who weren’t interested in chasing were intrigued just by watching.

With the rescues well-exercised, we find them much more content, healthier physically, and in a calmer mental state. We have seen an increase in downtime, with less pacing and barking. We are thrilled to have another outlet for relief and enjoyment added to our facility, Thank you, Petfinder Foundation!

Ash is a red heeler mix who was surrendered with his sister Amelia, and who is set to be adopted this weekend. Ash is a wonderful, sweet boy with boundless energy, and this lure system is just what a dog with a mix of working breeds needs!

Keeping Ash active is prudent for preventing behavior issues like jumping, pacing, and overreactive responses. Ash has done outstanding with his leash-training and basic commands; he has even started attending our Petco adoption events, which led to his potential adopters meeting him!
