Protective Animal Welfare Society: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The KIA Pet Adoption Grant was critical in providing support to the behind-the-scenes work that goes into each adoption, from the application intake to the screening interviews, to the home visits looking to find forever homes for each of our pets. This is typically a three-week or longer process from the time of the initial interest our Petfinder site to actually meeting adopters.

Tala is a beautiful shepherd whose original owner fell on hard times after losing her job and eventually her home. She could no longer provide proper care for Tala and, even through it broke her heart, she contacted PAWS to see if we could help her find a better life for Tala.
Tala came to us and was able to go into foster care with one of our prior adopters so she had a brother to play with. She did great and soon the applications came pouring in for her.
We received multiple applications for her over the five months she was with us; we reached out to all of them and spoke with them and spent time telling them about Tala and how perfect she is. Finally, Tala’s hero came along and was so excited to meet her and even had another doggy brother for Tala to play with. It was a match made in heaven and certainly worth the wait!
