Tragic to Magic: Emergency Medical Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
This grant played a crucial role in covering the cost of Goldie’s chemotherapy treatments, allowing her to make a full recovery from transmissible venereal tumor (TVT). With the financial burden of her extensive medical care significantly alleviated, our organization could focus on providing Goldie with the additional treatments and specialized care she needed to overcome her other health issues.
Beyond Goldie’s recovery, the grant’s impact extended to the other pets in our care. By supporting Goldie’s treatment costs, we were able to allocate resources to other animals requiring medical attention. This grant was not only instrumental in saving Goldie’s life, but also allowed us to continue our mission of rescuing and rehabilitating vulnerable animals in need.
Goldie’s recovery and successful adoption into a loving home are a shining example of how critical grants like this are to our work. Her story of resilience and second chances has inspired many in our community to consider adoption and support rescue efforts. We are deeply grateful for the assistance provided, as it has made a lasting difference for Goldie, her puppies, and our organization as a whole.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Goldie, a rescued street dog, was suffering from multiple severe health conditions, including transmissible venereal tumor (TVT), kidney issues, anaplasmosis, ehrlichiosis, mange, and a chest infection. Additionally, she was pregnant when she was rescued, and only three of her nine puppies survived due to complications. The grant was requested to cover Goldie’s extensive medical care, including eight rounds of chemotherapy, medication for her infections, and prescription kidney-care food.
Thanks to this grant, Goldie’s life has been transformed. The funding allowed her to receive the full eight rounds of chemotherapy necessary to treat her TVT successfully. Over the course of her treatment, Goldie also overcame her kidney issues with the help of prescription diets and supplements, and she fully recovered from her anaplasmosis, ehrlichiosis, and mange. Her resilience and gentle nature shone through, even during the most challenging moments of her recovery.
Goldie’s story has a heartwarming ending: On Aug. 17, 2024, she was adopted by an amazing family who cherishes her deeply. She now spends her days in a loving home where she is pampered and adored. Her remarkable recovery and gentle spirit inspired everyone who met her, including her new family.
The story gets even better: Goldie’s three surviving puppies also found their forever homes! Each is thriving, growing up healthy and happy, thanks to the care they received early on.
This grant not only saved Goldie’s life but gave her a second chance at happiness. Her recovery is a testament to the power of compassion and generosity. We are incredibly grateful for the support that made this possible and for the bright futures now ahead for Goldie and her puppies.
