Perfectly Imperfect Pups: Dog Enrichment Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The Petfinder Foundation’s 2025 Dog Enrichment Grant enabled Perfectly Imperfect Pups to purchase a variety of engaging, durable toys for dogs in our foster homes. As a rescue that specializes in caring for dogs with elevated medical and other needs, limited resources are often directed toward emergency veterinary care and urgent intakes, making it difficult to consistently replace enrichment items. This grant ensures that foster homes have access to high-quality toys that help reduce anxiety, encourage healthy activity, and allow our dogs to show their best selves to potential adopters.
How many pets did this grant help?
We expect the durable toys purchased with this grant to be used across multiple foster placements, typically lasting two to three dogs each, allowing the grant to benefit between 70-110 dogs over the calendar year.
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
One dog already benefiting from the Dog Enrichment Grant is Regina (photos 1-3), a sweet and playful pup currently waiting for her forever home. Regina thrives on interactive enrichment, but she is a quick learner and masters her puzzle toys easily. With the grant funds, we were able to provide her with new, more challenging toys that keep her mentally stimulated and engaged in her foster home.
This support also came at an important time, as our region experienced colder and snowier conditions than we typically see, reducing opportunities for outdoor activity. As Regina’s foster mom shared, “These enrichment toys are needed on days like today when a walk or yard time is minimal.”
Photos also feature Melody and Hope enjoying their new enrichment items as they await their forever homes.
