Spicy Kitty Animal Rescue: Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant allowed us to spotlight a bonded pair of senior cats -- one with a medical history with possible future flair-ups. We were able to inform potential adopters of the additional assistance that came along with their pair.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Sassy and Leo were adopted! Sassy and Leo were surrendered to us in April 2023 at the ages of 8 and 7 years old. Sassy also has a history of urinary crystals, so she has to be on a certain diet. With them being bonded, older, and with a medical history, we were not getting any requests for more information or applications.

After receiving the grant funds with the sole purpose to provide a financial cushion for their new forever family, we had a wonderful couple apply and be approved to adopt the pair in January 2024. After a four-week trial (they had an older dog who needed to approve), Sassy and Leo are officially adopted and living happy, happy lives in their new forever home.

The grant funding, while still being dispersed, lifted a little bit of the financial pressure of knowing that Sassy will need to be on a partial wet-food diet and may need a few extra trips to the vet as she ages.
