Sadie's Safe Harbor Canine Rescue: Play Pet Beds Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
We were able to provide soft, washable beds to many of our fosters. These beds are perfect for inside a crate and can easily be cleaned and used by another foster pet. Washing and reusing the beds helps us save money that we can use towards other needs.
Rescue is hard and every day we have to make decisions on how to use our limited funds. Being able to supply a good-quality bed that can be used more than once is amazing. We are thankful for this grant and hope to work together again in the future.
How many pets did this grant help?
30 or more
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
The first photo is Poppy, a beagle. She was found running free in North Carolina and picked up by Animal Control. Poppy spent some time in the local shelter, which is super scary for a small dog.
Luckily, our rescue team was doing a transport to the shelter that very weekend and one of our volunteers has a soft spot for beagles. Needless to say, Poppy was an immediate addition to our transport and made her way back to New York with Sadie’s Safe Harbor Canine Rescue.
Poppy now spends her days with her new family shopping at Home Goods, TJ Maxx, and many other stores. She is living her best life and safe from the scary unknown.
Pictured in the second photo with one of the donated beds is Butters, a yellow Lab. Butters, his two siblings, and their mom were found as strays on a rural road in Texas. They were brought to the shelter by a neighbor.
After some scary shelter time, they made their way to New York. Butters found a wonderful family that takes the very best care of him.
