Little Mews Rescue: Cat Enrichment Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Without this grant, we could not even have started work on our cat viewing/play room. We are a by-donation-only organization and live penny-to-penny, with all money going toward the medical needs of the cats we take in. This leaves little else for building improvements. The cat enclosure, an essential structure in our new building, will provide a safe place for our cats to play as well as a viewing area for potential adopters. Our cats previously has no enclosed play area.

We have included a picture taken when we first started working on a new cat room one month in (second photo), compared to today's photo showing the framing, outlets, drywall, new lights, ceiling repair, and a plexiglass viewing panel (third photo).

How many pets did this grant help?

50

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

While our room is still unfinished due to low funds, we hope to increase adoptions this year by at least 50, facilitated by this meet-and-greet area the Petfinder Foundation has graciously donated money for. The enrichment aspect of this room will benefit all the animals in our care, too many to count.

The first photo shows just one of our intakes, a poor orphaned kitten in need of food and medical care. This happens almost daily with our rescue; we receive so many calls to help cats that we are bursting at the seams and the drain on our bank account is great. We have not nursed this kitten to a healthy, adoptable state yet, but he is improving.

Thank you so very much for your help.
