Ladybird Animal Sanctuary: Purina Canada Happy Paws & Hearts Operation Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The Purina Canada Happy Paws & Hearts Operation Grant has provided crucial support to Ladybird Animal Sanctuary, allowing us to cover the expenses associated with the neuter surgeries and vaccines for two rescue cats, Hitchcock and Walter.
Our charity has a steadfast commitment to ensuring the well-being of our rescue animals, which includes spay/neuter surgery and vaccinations before each pet is adopted to a loving home. This dedication to responsible pet ownership not only contributes to the health and happiness of the animals, but also helps in controlling the pet population.
These essential veterinary procedures can be financially burdensome for rescue organizations like Ladybird. Grants such as the one provided by Purina Canada and the Petfinder Foundation play a pivotal role in alleviating this financial strain, enabling us to continue our work in rescuing and rehabilitating animals in need.
This vital support ensures that these animals have the opportunity to find caring forever homes and enjoy fulfilling lives free from neglect and suffering.
How many pets did this grant help?
This grant has helped cover the costs of the neuter surgeries and vaccinations for two of our rescue cats, Hitch and Walter.
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Hitchcock was only 6 weeks old when he arrived at Ladybird. He was found in a barn, dragging his back leg and with an extremely bruised underside. The cause of his injuries were not known, but he received immediate medical attention once in Ladybird’s care. With our trusted vets, we were able to get a proper diagnosis and treatment plan for this sweet baby.
Hitch was placed in a loving Ladybird foster home as he navigated his health issues. Once he was ready, and with the support of our Purina Canada Happy Paws & Hearts Operation Grant, we were able to neuter and vaccinate Hitch.
Hitchcock had been through so much, but as this kitty was healing in his foster home, he found a friend to help him through his hardships. Ladybird rescue cat Tuesday had had a similar bumpy start in life and just the right docile personality to complement Hitch’s playful nature. The pair became inseparable and it was clear that we had to find a home that would take both of these bonded cats.
Tuesday and Hitch didn’t have an easy time as they entered this world, but they now have a loving place to call home. These two pals have been adopted and we are so happy this friendship can bloom over a lifetime in a safe, loving forever home.
Here at Ladybird, we are grateful for the support given through the Purina Canada Happy Paws & Hearts Operation Grant, enabling a happy new beginning for cats like Hitchcock.
