Team Cat Rescue, Inc.: Purina Canada Happy Paws & Hearts Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We received a kitten who was diagnosed with symblepharon (his lower eyelid was adhered to his eye). We required a specialized ophthalmologist to perform the surgery. The surgery cost over $3,700 and the consultation and diagnostics cost $386. Fundraising pleas to the public did not generate many dollars, so this grant pretty much saved the day. Because this grant paid for a large portion of this kitten's surgery cost, we were allowed to schedule surgery quicker and the cost didn't prevent us from taking other special-needs cats.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

As mentioned above, the entire grant went towards specialized surgery for one kitten who had a unique condition — at least one we haven’t had to treat before.

Cupid came to us a few months ago as a kitten and we discovered this issue after his arrival. He was able to have his surgery and is healing beautifully thanks to the generous grant.

Even though we list that it only helped one cat, technically it allowed us to take other cats in need because it freed up funds that would have had to go to Cupid’s surgery.

Cupid is still recovering before being available for adoption.
