Senior Dog Rescue of Oregon: Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Because we deal with older dogs, our pets are sometimes more difficult to adopt. Many potential adopters do not want an older dog and many of the dogs come with existing health problems. Being able to highlight the Petfinder Foundation's grant helps give a particular dog that extra push to the finish line. We are still very careful to screen the adopters so that the funds are not what makes the decision for them, but no question it's a helpful and considerate offering.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Suerte is a Lab/whippet mix originally rescued from the streets of Mexico. She eventually came into our care, looking for a home in which she could be the only pet. She had developed skin allergies and needed a special diet and allergy supplements. These circumstances made her more difficult to adopt and she was with us for over six months.

Suerte was adopted shortly after her grant was posted. She has a loving mom and dad and is living a peaceful and comfortable life.
