How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We greatly appreciate the donation of Kongs to help keep our enrichment program going strong. It can be challenging to maintain a sufficient supply to cover our entire population (we have more than 150 adult-dog kennels), and even though Kongs are incredibly durable, they do eventually wear out and require replacement. I would estimate that it takes more than 200 Kong toys a year to cover all of our very active residents. Thank you very much for this generous contribution, and we hope you'll allow us to apply again in the future. The need never ends, and our pups love their Kong toys so much!

How many pets did this grant help?

Columbia Animal Services shelters more than 4,000 dogs annually and all are treated to Kong enrichment during their stay.

All of the pets in our facility receive weekly enrichment in the form of Kong and PB Frisbee treats. In the attached photos, the pups wearing the bandanas are recent CAS alumni, and the other two happy pups (Myrtle and Iesha) enjoying their new Kongs are current adoption-eligible residents.
