Catio Cat Lounge, Inc.: Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant sponsored one of our most deserving, long-time resident senior cats, Slash, who went through a lot of untoward events prior to coming to the adoption center. It provided the Catio Cat Lounge, Inc., more incentive to find a good home for this loving kitty.
Although we elected not to announce the grant as part of the adoption process to avoid individuals who might adopt to gain access to funds, we did feature Slash prominently on our Facebook page. Sponsored adoptions, particularly for seniors, are a way to help adopters own and care for a cat who likely has special needs.
The vet care funding of $596 was placed on his account with his new vet, Lakeside Veterinarian Hospital in Hermitage, TN, designated specifically for Slash's care, including bloodwork and exams. Food will be provided by the Catio Cat Lounge, Inc., on a monthly basis to his adopter. The $100 adoption fee was placed in the appropriate adoption account at the Catio.
All funds were used and are accounted for as required.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
The Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant sponsored one of our longtime residents, Slash, who went through a lot of untoward events prior to coming to the adoption center.
Slash spent 289 days at the Catio Cat Lounge, Inc. Once at our facility, Slash was diagnosed with stomatitis, an infectious dental disease. His infections were so severe, he had to go through multiple antibiotic treatments prior to having almost all his teeth removed.
Throughout these events, Slash remained the most loving kitty in our Senior Room. When we were notified that we were a grant recipient, we began our promotion of Slash, who was very amenable to wearing costumes! Slash became a fan favorite and greeted many visitors, but, alas, he was not adopted.
Surprisingly, one of our former employees, who loved Slash from the beginning, stepped forward to adopt him. She had no idea about the grant or any of the funding available for his care. She simply wanted him to have the best home possible in his prime years.
Cayla arrived at the Catio, adopted Slash and brought him home to meet his new brothers and sisters, one of whom is a mini-me of Slash! They are all acclimating well and love is all around this adorable boy and his new kitty family. Slash even has a new name, Obi-Wan, and is enjoying his new comfortable surroundings with his kitty family and mom.
