Nashville Humane Association: Play Pet Beds Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The grant award of 10 P.L.A.Y beds has greatly enhanced the comfort and care at the Nashville Humane Association. With nearly 4,000 cats and dogs passing through our shelter each year, we rely on a large quantity of linens—towels, blankets, and beds. When illnesses occur, we must dispose of bedding quickly, which increases our need for replacements.
The P.L.A.Y beds have been a fantastic addition, providing both washability and comfort. The soft, cozy design has made a noticeable difference, allowing our dogs to relax and feel at ease. Creating a warm environment is essential for reducing stress and promoting healing, and these beds help us achieve that.
We are incredibly grateful for this grant, as it not only enhances the quality of life for the animals in our care but also reflects our commitment to their well-being. Each time we see a dog happily resting on a P.L.A.Y bed, we’re reminded of the positive impact it has on their journey to finding a forever home.

Pretty Mama arrived at our shelter with not just her seven tiny puppies but also the weight of her past struggles. Rescued from a difficult situation, she brought with her a spirit of resilience that shone through despite her many medical issues.
When she first came to us, she was a little worse for wear. Her ears were inflamed from a severe infection and she had dental problems that hinted at neglect. On top of that, she was dealing with postpartum challenges, having recently weaned her pups.
Our vet team worked diligently, providing her with the care she desperately needed. After a week of treatment, medication, and plenty of TLC, Pretty Mama began to perk up, her personality slowly emerging as her health improved.
Once she was cleared for the adoption floor, it became clear that this gentle soul had a heart full of love to give. Each day, she eagerly awaited her time with the staff, who couldn’t resist showering her with snuggles and treats. Pretty Mama had a knack for making everyone feel special; her soft, soulful eyes seemed to say, “Thank you for caring.”
Although she is still on a journey to gain some healthy weight, the transformation is heartwarming. Each time she plops down on a cozy bed after a playgroup outside, you can see the contentment radiate from her.
