Etosha Rescue & Adoption Center: Disaster Response and Recovery Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
Strong winds for several weeks brought in this summer's triple-digit temperatures and left many of our shade cloths in ribbons. The Petfinder Foundation's 2024 Disaster Grant allowed us to purchase 13 heavy-duty white tarps, three shade cloths, a kennel cover, lattice, bungees and straps, and a dog crate (for indoors, to accommodate another dog in one of our mobile homes during the heat of the day). These repairs totaled $1,003.31, so they used the entire $1,000 of Petfinder Foundation funds. Eighteen Etosha dogs benefited from this generous assistance.
How many pets did this grant help?
Allowing for upcoming adoptions, 18 current dogs plus approximately 10 more dogs will benefit this year.
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Summer, a 1-year old Lab mix (first photo), was digging her way to China to escape the heat when we put up two more shade cloths on her kennel. She is such a pretty dog, and full of puppy playfulness, so it’s surprising that Summer is not yet adopted. Her Petfinder listing can be found here.
In the above photos, you’ll see two pit-mix puppies visiting Summer in her nice, shady pen (second photo), as well as Summer’s pen with the new shade cloths attached (third photo).
Also pictured is Gibson, a 3-year-old red tick coonhound (fourth photo) whose kennel also received a shade cloth. Gibson is also available for adoption. You can meet him here.
Everyone at Etosha Rescue is grateful for your help!
