How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Kia’s grant funding helped cover the adoption fees of cats and dogs during a weekend-long adoption event. By removing the financial barrier of adoption fees, this special event encouraged more families to consider adoption while reducing the length of stay for animals in our shelter. We exceeded our goal of 50 successful adoptions during the event, with 52 pets placed in safe, loving homes. Additionally, the event helped create space within our shelter to accommodate other animals in need. Thank you, Petfinder Foundation and Kia.

Thanks to the generous, lifesaving adoption grant from Kia and the Petfinder Foundation, our Kia Adoption Fee Sponsored Weekend was a heartwarming success — and for one special dog named Lizzie, it meant the beginning of her happily ever after.

Lizzie, a gentle 6-year-old hound, came to the Lynchburg Humane Society over a year ago in rough shape. She was battling multiple tick-borne illnesses — heartworm, ehrlichiosis, and Lyme disease — and needed time, treatment, and love to heal. One of our incredible foster families stepped up to care for her, giving her the time she needed to recover and thrive.

When we brought Lizzie back for the adoption special, we knew it was time for her next chapter. And thanks to the adoption-fee sponsorship, Lizzie finally found her perfect match — a loving family with kids who instantly fell in love with her. Today, she’s living the life she always deserved: spoiled, adored, and surrounded by love.
