Cheyenne Animal Shelter: Dog Field Trip/Short-Term Fostering Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
We were able to purchase all-new high-visibility "Adopt Me" vests as well as new and improved treat pouches for our volunteers to use while they take dogs out for field trips (or Doggy Days Out, as we call them). We also were able to purchase branded patches to sew onto our vests and pouches.
We have received some excellent feedback from our volunteers on the vests as well as the pouches! The vests look more professional and are easier for potential adopters to see. The treat pouches have also been a huge hit. They are spacious, comfortable, and even came with dog water bowls for the pups.
How many pets did this grant help?
At least 30. We typically see about three Doggy Days Out a week (some are repeats).
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
A volunteer heard about our program and came in for a Doggy Day Out. He had no intention of adopting, but grabbed one of our new treat pouches, a new “Adopt Me” vest, and a cute pup named Regina and he was off. On his outing, he fell in love with Regina and he adopted her straight from the Doggy Day Out.
We have had a ton of pets utilize our new and improved Adopt Me vests in the past month. One of our longest-term dogs, Dillinger (or Dilly), has gone on about 30 Doggy Days Out since he has been at the shelter and the new vests do great work making sure he is visible and looking handsome (first and second photos). The vests look great in pictures, and showcase our dogs very well.
